Why Brazil?

One thing lead to another.

I have television to thank. First it was the Brazilian soccer team - in particular Edson Arantes do Nascimento [Pele], then Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite [Kaká], Marcos Evangelista de Morais [Cafu], Arthur Antunes Coimbra [Zico], Manuel Francisco dos Santos [Garrincha]. Then FESTAC 1977. Then the beautiful people,. Then Orisa. Then Carnivale. At this point TV was inadequate to showcase Brazil. I had to see for myself.

I arrived Rio de Janeiro December 31st 2014 and entered the new year in a new country. The great country of Brazil. I followed the custom and protocol of the people and wore all white [I bought new clothes] and went to the beach to pay homage to Yemoja and spent the new year in Rio. I initially stayed in Ipanema and then Copacabana. I did not see any of the football stars but I saw enough to leave a positive impression - wonderful, hospitable and kind people, excellent cuisine, fruits I had never seen anywhere in the world, not even in the tropics. Drinks that tasted like nectar.

I was not disappointed. I stayed in a beachfront hotel in Rio and loved it. I even went to the favela - vidigal, a hotel I visited [Hotel Mirante do Arvrao] had the most excellent view ever of the Rio coastline for miles! What a view.
